It is believed that when Lord Shiva wanted to partake in the Raasleela of Krishna, He knew He can not do that with a male body. So it was here, He took the dip to get a female body and was decorated by His wife Parvati Ji. It is also called Man-Sarovar. This was also a meeting place of Radha and Krishna.
The villagers approached the Braj Foundation to restore this kund which was in very bad shape. The foundation took up this task and started to de-silt the same with it’s earthmovers. Interestingly after two meters of de-silting the ancient steps to the kunds also appeared beneath the earth. The catchment area was cleaned and a development plan was made to beautify this kund.
Since the villagers wanted to create an additional pond for their livestock a GauKund was also dug for their benefit.
The beautification plan includes repair of ghats, construction a Ras Mandal (stage), heavy plantation around the kund, water flow control gate, parikrama path, signage and water purification system for the benefit of village community. We need about Rs 30 lakhs for this project. You may contribute the same to please Radharani, in whose sakhi’s village thisa kund is located and also for the pleasure of Brajwasis of this village.
