Our Inspiration

Shri Ramesh Baba- Revolutionary Saint of Braj

Baba Shri, as he is affectionately called, has consistently devoted his entire life for the protection and restoration of the divine beauty of Braj – the glorious Dham of Shri Radha Krishna. His main objective has been to rejuvenate and revive the glories of Sri Sri Radha Krishna and to preserve Their Lila Sthalis (play grounds) which include kunjas (forests), kunds (ancient water bodies), hills, cows and the holy Yamuna river.

Baba Shri has been a singular inspiration for the people leading The Braj Foundation. The Braj Foundation mission has been inspired and guided by Baba’s teaching of serving the poor and restoring the environment of Braj.

Baba Shri shuns opulence, accepts no disciples and financial support and lives on the charity given by local peasants. He composes and sings devotional verses dedicated to Shri Radha Krishna in the true tradition of Meera Bai and Surdas. He is a scholar par-excellence and gives daily discourses on various Vaishnav philosophies.

He was born in Allahabad and His father was a Sr. Police officer as well as a close friend of well known Indian leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Malviya ji had predicted that this only son – Rameshwar, will become a sadhu. True to this prediction, 17 years old Rameshwar left his Allahabad University education and home, never to return again. Since 1950’s he has been living on a hill top of Barsana (Mathura) and has never stepped out of the geographical boundary of Braj.

Baba Shri has inspired many individuals and organizations to undertake service of Braj Dham. Each one so inspired is independently contributing to this larger mission of restoring the glory of Braj Dham according to their capability and resources.
